Frequently Asked Questions
1. HOW DO I PLACE AN AD?
Before a Member can place an Ad, they must sign in.  After signing in, you will be taken to a page titled, MY ADS.  Click on the Post New AD link and follow the steps.  Additional instructions are found in the document, Steps for Creating an Ad.  This document can be found in the Membership Tutorial link on the Home page.
 
2. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE MY AD TO BE POSTED ON THE WEBSITE?
Under normal circumstances, your ad will be posted on the website within 24 hours.
 
3. CAN I SELL MORE THAN ONE COMMODITY CATEGORY PER INDIVIDUAL AD?
No.  In order for the search engine on this website to work properly, each individual ad must consist of only one commodity. 
 
4. HOW DO I SELECT THE CONDITION OF THE ITEM(S) I AM SELLING?
Use the "Item Condition Descriptions" as your guideline.  You can find a link to this document in the Membership Tutorial link found on the Home Page.
 
5. CAN I USE KEYWORDS UNRELATED TO DESCRIBING THE ITEM IN MY AD?
No.  That practice is called keyword spamming and is strictly forbidden.  See our Keyword Spamming Policy in the Membership Terms of Use.
 
6. WHAT AD OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
The following are additional options that may be purchased for each ad. (See your specific membership plan for cost details):
  1.  Additional Photos (Maximum of 5) - All ads allow the first photo for free.
  2. Bold Option
  3. Highlight Option
  4. Search Thumbnail Option
  5. Eye Catchers Option
  6. Counters Option
7. HOW CAN OTHER MEMBERS CONTACT ME IF THEY ARE INTERESTED IN MY AD?

    Contractorhotdeals.com provides each Member with their own internal email address accessible on this website only.  The Member's Username is also the Member's internal email address.  No adder such as .com is required. 
 
The benefit of using email to communicate with potential buyers is  each conversation will be documented.  If there is any future issue with the sale of the item, your communications will be documented for future reference.
 

    *We reserve the right to periodically delete emails older than 120 days.

    Your choice of business or cell phone.

 
 ** Be sure to provide the Contact Name of the person responsible for the sale of the item.
 
During the registration process, you will be asked which of the above two communication methods you would prefer other Members to use.  You may choose one or both methods.  Your choices will appear in all your future ads.  If you want to change your choices, you may edit your individual ads at time of placement or edit your choices by going to the My Information  link on My Account page.
 
8. IS THERE A LIMIT ON THE QUANTITY I CAN SELL FOR EACH ITEM?
No.  You can sell whatever quantity you like of the same item . 
 
If you are selling more than one part number or model number of the same commodity be sure to select "Lot(s)" as the Unit of Measure when inputting your ad.  Additionally, specify the quantity of each individual item in the description section of your ad. 
 
9. DO PICTURES HELP SELL PRODUCTS?
Yes.  Many times a picture is truly worth a thousand words.  Depending on the item, multiple pictures from different views can be very helpful to the buyers trying to decide if they are interested in purchasing your product.
 
10. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COLLECTION AND PAYMENT OF ANY APPLICABLE SALES TAX?
It is the sole responsibilty of the Seller to collect any sales tax (if applicable) from the Buyer and make appropriate payments to their state tax collection agency.  Contractorhotdeals.com is NOT responsible in any way for the collection and payment of any applicable sales tax.
 
11. DOES CONTRACTORHOTDEALS.COM GUARANTEE I WILL SELL MY MERCHANDISE?
No.  There are many factors why something might not sell.  Some may be:
  • Is there a demand for your merchandise or service?
  • Is the pricing attractive to buyers?
  • Is the product condition acceptable to buyers?
  • Is your shipping cost too high?
 You may want to check out other ads on the website selling similar products to see if you are in-line with the general market.
 
12. WHO PAYS FOR SHIPPING COST?
 It is the Seller's responsibility to define who will pay the shipping cost.  If the Seller expects the Buyer to pay for shipping, the Seller should provide a shipping weight of the item(s).
 
13. CAN I CHANGE OR EDIT MY AD AFTER I SUBMIT IT FOR PLACEMENT ON THE WEBSITE?
Yes.  Members have 24 hours to make changes to their ad.  Any changes involving a change to the original cost of the ad is not permitted.
 
Please take care in reviewing your ad's contents for accuracy prior to submitting it for posting. 
 
14. WHAT DO I DO IF MY AD IS REJECTED?
If your ad is rejected, you will receive an email stating the reason for the rejection.  Once you have corrected the reason for the rejection, you may resubmit the ad for approval and posting.
 
15. IF I SELL MY PRODUCT BEFORE THE EXPIRATION DATE OF MY AD, WHAT DO I DO?
Go to the page called My Ads and select the option Sold Ad.  Your ad will still be displayed on the website, except it will have a SOLD label on the headline.  The Sold Ad will drop off the website only after the ad's original expiration date.  However, Contractorhotdeals.com reserves the right to delete any Sold Ads after ten business days from the date the ad has been marked as Sold.
 
16. CAN I ATTACH AN INTERNET LINK ON MY AD?
Only the advertisers purchasing space on the Home page are allowed a link.
 
17. WHAT DO I DO IF I CAN'T FIND THE PROPER COMMODITY CATEGORY FOR THE PRODUCT I WANT TO SELL?
Although we strive to cover most of the common commodities contractors use in their daily business, our commodity listing does not include every possible commodity.  If there is a commodity family you would like us to add to the existing listing, please email Contractorhotdeals.com's customer service to request a change.  We will review your request and inform you of our decision in a timely manner.
