Be flexible

If you limit yourself to only local Sellers, you will miss out on many great opportunities. Many items can be shipped and received within two business days in most regions of the United States.

 
Use the Ad Finder feature to save time when looking for specific items

This feature allows members to identify specific search criteria for material or services they are interested in purchasing in the future.  When a new ad is posted on Contractorhotdeals.com that matches their selected criteria the member will receive a message sent to their external email address notifying them.

The email will provide a link directly to the specific ad.  The member can then view the details of the ad.  If the member is interested in taking any additional action on the website, they will then need to sign in.

The following are elements of the Ad Finder process:

Save As – Create a unique name for each specific Ad Finder
Search – Identify the specific commodity or item you are interested in
Other Possible Search Criteria – See examples 

  • Minimum and Maximum Price
  • Ads by Specific Username
  • Product Condition – New or Used
  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Part Number
  • Vehicle Make/Model
  • Who Pays Shipping/Delivery Cost

 

Research the current market for the item you are interested in

Do your homework in knowing what the current market price is for the item. What are your suppliers currently charging for the item?

 

Be thorough in understanding the item you are purchasing

Make sure the Seller provides all the necessary information for you to understand exactly what the item is, including the item manufacturer, part number and/or model number and any other important information. If the item is used, are there any defects- cosmetic or functional?

 

Review other Member’s feedback of the Seller’s past transactions

What has been the experience of other Members in purchasing items from this Seller? It is important to not only review the rating but also read the specific comments about each transaction. If you are at all concerned about the Seller’s past feedback, you may want to ask the Seller and/or his previous buyers to give you more information about why the feedback was negative.

 

Respond quickly to any communication with the Seller

Other members may be interested in purchasing the item too. If you are in the process of communicating with the Seller by email, make sure you check your email daily. Otherwise, you may find the Seller has already sold the item to another Member since he did not hear back from you in a timely manner. The Seller is under no obligation to hold the item for you until you both have agreed to the terms of sale of the specific item(s).

 

Once you agree to purchase from the Seller - agree on a timeline

  • Timing and method of payment?
  • Timing and method of shipment of item(s) to Buyer once the Seller receives payment?
  • Who pays for the shipping costs?
  • If the item is damaged in shipment, who is responsible –the Buyer or the Seller?

 

Always provide feedback on your experience with the Seller

ITEMS WANTED

 

What can I do if the specific item(s) I am looking for is not for sale?

Members that are interested in buying an item not presently for sale on the website have the option of placing an advertisement in the ITEMS WANTED section. Be aware that the cost for placing an ad in this section is the same as in the “For Sale” section. See your specific Membership Plan for costs.
When placing an ad in this section, follow the same steps that Sellers do when creating an ad with these few exceptions:

  1. Select the appropriate commodity family in the ITEMS WANTED section
  2. ALWAYS begin your Ad Title with the words “ITEM WANTED” Example: ITEM WANTED: 10 SEER HEAT PUMP
  3. The price you input in the ad represents the price you are willing to pay for the item.
  4. Be very specific about the item you want. If you want a specific manufacturer, make sure you state it in the ad. Example: Lennox Only
  5. Make sure you state any other specific needs or requirements very clearly in your ad.
